Special Thanks to City’s Suppliers
April 16, 2010
The City would like to recognize and extends its sincerest thanks to all suppliers that participated in the City’s cost savings initiative. Through their collective efforts, the City will potentially save up to $2.6 million in the upcoming 2010-2011 Fiscal Year in all funds.
In February, the City began efforts to renegotiate existing contracts and seek pricing concessions on high dollar purchase orders and agreements. We are pleased to report that over 80% of the suppliers contacted have responded and the vast majority of them have agreed to price concessions. The City will continue to evaluate its agreements for additional cost savings opportunities.

The network would deliver Internet speeds more than 100 times faster than what most Americans have access to today, over 1 gigabit per second. As you can imagine, it would present fantastic opportunities for residents and businesses alike—by attracting businesses and jobs to our community, enhancing the quality of life for our citizens and improving our schools, health care system and government agencies. To make sure San José is a top contender, we need your help. For more information, visit www.sanjoseca.gov/getwiredup.asp.
